A Close Look at Taiwan’s Traditional Crafts ” at the Fo Guang Shan Buddha Memorial Hall. Li Lianquan, Deputy Minister of Culture, Shi Guolong, Director of the Bureau of Cultural Assets, Monk Xinbao, abbot of Fo Guang Shan, Master Ru Chang, curator of the Buddha Memorial Hall, curator Mr. Bohe Zhuang, teacher, and traditional crafts preservers from all over the country, and other distinguished guests unveil the special exhibition together.
Li Lianquan, Deputy Minister of Culture, stated that Taiwan’s traditional crafts are my country’s precious intangible cultural assets.At present, there are 13 national treasures of traditional crafts and 18 projects, and 15 national treasure-level artists participated in this special exhibition. The curator, Mr. Bohe Zhuang, assembled 45 central and local artists with the best traditional craftsmanship, and provided 155 works to show the value of Taiwan’s multiculturalism. I hope that people will understand the aesthetics of its craftsmanship from this special exhibition , but also hope that it will lead everyone to appreciate its cultural value, and pay attention to the preservation and maintenance of traditional crafts, so that this intangible cultural asset can be continuously practice and inheritance from generation to generation. .
This exhibition with the theme of ” The National Treasures ” presents the exquisite skills of the preservers of traditional crafts and the ingenious ” Artist ” with ” sincere “Through exhibitions and experience activities, the people will be “close to” the crafts. The beauty of life discovers the aesthetic “smart art” of life. The works include lacquer art, wood carving, The craftsmanship of divine statue decoration, bamboo art, pottery, metalwork, color painting, weaving, embroidery, Paste Decoration of Temple, clay sculpture, jade and brick carving, puppets, drums, paste paper, etc., people could appreciate the practical aesthetics and artistic value of ” the great rule ” and ” Utensils “, feel the power of beauty from the activity design of five sense experience.
The exhibition is divided into four aspects: “people’s livelihood. Use of utensils”, “religion. Etiquette and custom”, “art. Aesthetics” and ” The craftsmanship of divine statue decoration. Inheritance”, reflecting the artistic quality of the Cultural Assets Preservation Law and reflecting the characteristics of ethnic groups or local life. For example, the furniture and props needed for people’s daily use and spiritual life reflect the people’s aesthetics; in life etiquette, religious beliefs, there are statues of gods and Buddha, and rituals. Vessels and architectural decorations, the carved beams and paintings of temples to shrine desks, stoves, etc., A story of loyalty and filial piety rich in humanistic narrative, legends of gods , fantastic rare birds and animals in various forms, showing the beliefs, customs and folk with deep Taiwan characteristics strength.
