The Italo-Lebanese Cultural Institute (ICIL) presents “International Couture Fashion Show” introduced in ALTAROMA FASHION HUB calendar on January 27th – 6:30 P.M. in Prati Bus District official location. The “International Couture” fashion show is at its second edition and shows a collective of 4 International designers carefully selected by ICIL. Young and talented who come from different countries, some reveal their cultures and present on Altaroma’s catwalk real tailoring masterpieces achieved according to couture’s diktats. Evening gowns made by rich fabrics heightened with embroideries. International Couture is created and organized by ICIL Advisor Maria Christina Rigano in collaboration with Ramez Basmaji of “Fabusse”. In this second edition of International Couture you can appreciate the collections of our designers DANIELA DANESI – KARTIKEYA – THAHER BAQER – TAHANI ALOTAIBI.
From New Delhi, Kartikeya presents at Altaroma the S/S 2019 couture collection entitled “Heroine of the Opera – City of Stars”. Fifteen evening gowns on catwalk are a re-telling of Juliet’s tale about her powerful journey to come into her own. The collection emulates old world nostalgia interspersed with the powerful theatrics of the European opera culture in the late 1700s. There is a strong interjection of gothic romance within unyielding motifs inspired by Baroque architecture and lifestyle. Grand silhouettes in luxe velvets and flowing silks in deep romantic hues with handcrafted embellishments amidst trademark French.
From Kuwait the “Private Collection” by Thaher Baqer for the S/Summer 2019. Fifteen couture dresses will be shown on Altaroma catwalk. Private Collection is inspired from the world of crystal and the 20’s vibe where you can make a real show of luxurious nights and fabulous presence. The collection is all about crystal and femininity that reflect each women’s body and personality that is the definition of Thaher Baqer Couture. Thaher participated in many fashion shows as Mercedes Benz fashion week show Doha, Kuwait fashion show and this is his annual fashion show in Kuwait fixed in his calendar and Doha shopping festival event shows.
From Kuwait furthermore Tahani Al-Otaibi, designer specializing in the creation of Gulf Gowns “Abayas” presents at Altaroma fifteen items from the S/S 19 collection entitled “Abayas Sunset”. The collection inspired by the sunset is composed of short and long gowns in black. The “Abayas” created by Tahani have been made with luxury fabrics such as natural silk, taffeta and crepe embellished with embroidery, stones and Swarovski in warm colors and various shades inspired by the sunset and ranging from orange to bordeau through scarlet red. The “Abaya” Gulf Gowns by Tahani Alotaibi, thanks to its tailoring, femininity and elegance, becomes a high fashion garment to wear internationally on special occasions.
Italy representative Daniela Danesi presents on Altaroma catwalk sixteen items from the couture collection “Elegance in bloom” or the rebirth of elegance where the designer reveals and represents the journey through women’s fashion history and voyage of Italian haute couture and therefore the re-blossoming of elegance concept. The inspiration starts from the fabulous fifties whose sumptuous lines have given women an unparalleled elegance which Daniela Danesi wanted to pay tribute. Following the journey and through the time which prints evolve becoming more aggressive, more geometrical and more colorful to arrive to modern days. The cuts and tailoring enhance femininity in all its eras and the joy of wearing elegant clothes on summer evenings in Capri, Positano or Monte-Carlo.
After this brief presentation, below are detailed descriptions of the collections presented at International Couture by the 4 participating designers Daniela Danesi (Italy) – Kartikeya (India) – Thaher Baqer and Tahani Alotaibi (Kuwait).
PRESENTS AT ALTAROMA “ELEGANCE IN BLOOM”
Daniela Danesi is the designer and the supervisor of all her collections, she creates and realizes couture gowns & pret à porter collections in her Atelier and in her own laboratories in Naples. Her clothes are mainly inspired by contemporary art and design.
The Couture spring/Summer 2019 collection presented at Altaroma is titled “Elegance in Bloom” or the flourish of elegance where Daniela Danesi recounts a journey in the history of women’s fashion. The inspiration starts from the fabulous years 50, whose sumptuous lines have given women an unmatched elegance which Daniela Danesi wanted to pay homage, with dresses recalling the Haute Couture of the past.
“Elegance in bloom” is made with light tulle fabrics embroidered with lace flowers applications in porcelain and silver-gray colors enhanced by the flower’s sequins in the colors of Limoges porcelain. Prints are made on impalpable organza fabrics that represents with black and white bouquets and gardens of watercolor flowers reminiscent of Monet’s paintings. The journey telling “Elegance in bloom” collection by Daniela Danesi continues with the 60s. Dresses with clean lines with gipsy touches that enhance the female body. Scarf prints, gardens or Japanese-inspired kimono souvenirs, hand-drawn flowers which give the woman a new femininity. The finale is dedicated to the present day where the most provocative lines, with the image of the Nude Look, are inebriated by embroidery with golden flashes reminiscent of fireworks, cobalt blue geometric brush strokes refined by applications of light flowers that look like butterfly wings in silk georgette. Do not miss the animalier and ostrich feathers. Following the journey through the time of the Daniela Danesi Collection Couture, the prints evolve becoming more aggressive, more geometrical and more colorful. The cuts and tailoring enhance femininity in all its eras and the joy of wearing elegant clothes on summer evenings in Capri, Positano or Monte-Carlo. Elegance in Bloom represents a historical path of Italian haute couture and therefore the concept of re-blossoming of elegance. The dresses are almost all floral and the flowers are stylized in different ways by those recall Japan to those with a romantic mood and to conclude Elegance in Bloom refers above all to the woman “in bloom”.
In 2006 Daniela Danesi shows in New York with an exclusive collection dedicated to the history of femininity in American cinema, as part of a European project (P.L.A.I.T.T). From 2010 to 2012 he is technical partner of the Teatro di San Carlo; among the realizations the clothes of the chorus of white voices. In 2015 the Campania Region Authority confers the title of Master Craftsman. In 2017, the creative and manufacturing art Danesi first came to the Institute of Southern Culture under the patronage of the Ministry of Education and the Academy of Fine Arts then, in 2018 at Villa Fiorentino as part of the SorrentoYoungArt, an international contemporary art exhibition.

PRESENTS AT ALTAROMA “HEROINE OF THE OPERA – CITY OF STARS”
From New Delhi, Kartikeya presents in Altaroma the S/S 2019 collection entitled “Heroine of the Opera” which represents an ode to the Muse, Juliet. The young designer from New Delhi follows Juliet on a passionate journey towards stardom, fueled by a childhood dream that she chases relentlessly. Juliet grew up in the heart of a local opera, watching multiple performances of her hero from the stands-her mother. She spent many nights watching the stars of the show soaked in the applause. One day, it dawned on her that her hero was merely another expendable prop on the grand stage. As a member of the faceless crowd, she decided one day that she would grow up to own the spotlight. With strength born of steely determination that she will not be overshadowed, Juliet transforms herself into ‘Heroine of the Opera’. Kartikeya Spring Summer Couture 19 is a re-telling of Juliet’s tale about her powerful journey to come into her own. The collection emulates an Old World nostalgia interspersed with the powerful theatrics of the European opera culture in the late 1700s. ‘Kartikeya’ is the solo debut of the co-founder of Dozakh, Nitin Kartikeya. Launched in 2013, the label strives to breathe a fresh new life into old world lore. Best described as a fleeting play on past eras, Kartikeya garments are heavily inspired by its founder’s dabble in theatre and film. This paradoxical nature adds a feeling of avante garde and surrealism to each piece. Brand Kartikeya focuses on women’s evening wear couture and is known for its exquisite embroidery techniques, romantic silhouettes and contemporary outlook. His creations have been worn by top celebrities and influencers across the globe. Nitin Kartikeya, the Founder and Director of the brand, has also been presented with the 21st century icon award for his craftsmanship, uniqueness and his vision for the brand in a recently concluded awards show in London.
Kartikeya has flagship stores in Mumbai and Delhi, India, and is currently retailing from more than 30 other retail outlets across the globe. The brand is available in the top stores across India and selective stores in UK, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Brazil and Trinidad and Tobago. Brand has been a member of top fashion councils in India and has been consistently showcasing on the runway the most recent being was showcase of their Autumn / Winter 2018 at Lakme India Fashion Week. Expanding the horizons and not limiting the brand just to the Indian market, Kartikeya has showcased their ready couture spring summer 2018 collection in the recently concluded in Dubai. In the past the brand has showcased at the Amazon India Fashion Week, apart from that Kartikeya holds bi annual couture presentation in London every year, in extension to this Kartikeya has also showcased their Couture Line in Durban, South Africa in July end this year and also had a runway show for their cruise line in Port of Spain in Trinidad in Nov 2016 and today in Rome, the heart of Europe.

KUWAIT – TAHANI ALOTAIBI
PRESENTS AT ALTAROMA “ABAYAS SUNSET”
Tahani Al-Otaibi, is a Kuwaiti professional fashion designer, specialized in the creation of “Abayas” a special gown that all Gulf women wear in different circumstances. Tahani Alotaibi presents at Altaroma fifteen “Abayas” from the 2019 S/S collection entitled “Abayas Sunset”. The collection inspired by the sunset is composed of short and long Gulf gowns in black. The “Abayas” created by Tahani have been made with luxury fabrics such as natural silk, taffeta and crepes. “Abayas” are designed with different cuts and patterns, embellished with embroideries, stones and Swarovski threads in warm colors and various shades inspired by the sunset and ranging from orange to bordeau through scarlet red. The different models are distinguished above all by the neck and the cut of the sleeve, some are inspired by Japanese cuts.
For 15 years, Tahani Alotaibi was the first Gulf designer for Gulf gowns (Abayas). All Gulf women wear in different circumstances “Abayas”. She participated at many fashion shows & fashion weeks in several countries and capitals as London, Paris, Morocco, Tunisia, Arab Gulf countries and Saudi Arabia. She is the only designer for the heavy black gowns (Abayas). She is the first designer who participated at International fashion weeks especially in London.
Tahani Alotaibi made a great improvement on “Abayas” gowns by using luxury fabrics, distinguished with cuts & shapes adding embroidery, Swarovski stones and threads. She mixed them on abayas and make it a Chic, stylish and trendy gowns not only an ordinary and simple one as it was in the past. Special Abayas are created for daily life, receptions, holidays, weddings and luxury lifestyles. On the other hand, she introduced the winter fabrics adding velvet, furs and gouache.
The Kuwaiti designer was selected to represent Kuwait in designing the new abayas, and the event was attended by high-society ladies and dignitaries in Paris. The collection of exquisite haute couture abayas was shown amid appreciation and applause of the audience and was a real attraction. Many elegant Parisian women now choose to wear abayas for weddings and evening parties. Models presented the haute couture abayas in the splendid and attractive 2016 Spring and Summer show in the French capital. The aim was to make the haute couture Arab abaya an internationally respected attire to be worn easily by women all over the world. The Abayas presented smart, black embroidered chiffon abayas that attracted the audience’s attention. In this way, Otaibi, with her distinguished creativity, succeeded in creating newly designed abayas and attracting. Thousands of viewers (especially female ones) in various countries and making them more interested in wearing the abaya as a distinguished international dress on special occasions and private parties, because of its grace and elegance.
Tahani’s ambition is to reach universality and she certainly reached it by introducing the fashions Gulf Gowns (Abayas) without neglection the Gulf style.

The designer Thaher Baqer with Atelier in Kuwait presents fifteen couture garments entitled “Private Collection” at Altaroma. Sumptuous dresses that flaunt brightness and highlight femininity thanks to the lines that reveal the beauty of the Woman. This Private Collection is inspired from the world of crystal and the 20’s vibe where you can make a real show of luxurious nights and fabulous presence. The collection is all about crystal and femininity that reflect each women’s body and personality that is the definition of Thaher Baqer Couture line in his first line. Thaher participated in many fashion shows as Mercedes Benz fashion week show Doha, Kuwait fashion show and this is his annual fashion show in Kuwait fixed in his calendar and Doha shopping festival event shows and now from the heart of Europe from the city of fashion Rome (ITALY) he is going to show his latest collection to hit the international fashion shows by ALTAROMA Fashion Week.
Thaher Baqer is a Kuwaiti fashion designer who loved the art passionately with a special attraction to creativity and to all types of women’s clothing. He started working in the fashion field in 2008. Then in 2012, he opened his own atelier in Kuwait and created haute couture gowns and participated at many fashion shows in Doha, Dubai and Kuwaiti. The brand By Thaher created by Thaher Baqer produces haute couture, cocktail & gala dresses. He also renowned as Mr. Swarovski due to the incidence of Swarovski Crystals in all his couture creations for evening, Gala and Wedding dresses. Thaher Baqer is a notorious fashion designer for Gulf women, several worn his fashion style. His ambition is to show on an International catwalk as Altaroma and to expand his brand all over Arab Gulf Countries.
