ALTAROMA FASHION HUB

The Italo-Lebanese Cultural Institute (ICIL) presents “International Couture Fashion Show” introduced in ALTAROMA FASHION HUB calendar on January 27th – 6:30 P.M. in Prati Bus District official location. The “International Couture” fashion show is at its second edition and shows a collective of 4 International designers carefully selected by ICIL. Young and talented who come from different countries, some reveal their cultures and present on Altaroma’s catwalk real tailoring masterpieces achieved according to couture’s diktats. Evening gowns made by rich fabrics heightened with embroideries. International Couture is created and organized by ICIL Advisor Maria Christina Rigano in collaboration with Ramez Basmaji of “Fabusse”.
Tahani Al-Otaibi, is a Kuwaiti professional fashion designer, specialized in the creation of “Abayas” a special gown that all Gulf women wear in different circumstances. Tahani Alotaibi presents at Altaroma fifteen “Abayas” from the 2019 S/S collection entitled “Abayas Sunset”. The collection inspired by the sunset is composed of short and long Gulf gowns in black. The “Abayas” created by Tahani have been made with luxury fabrics such as natural silk, taffeta and crepes. “Abayas” are designed with different cuts and patterns, embellished with embroideries, stones and Swarovski threads in warm colors and various shades inspired by the sunset and ranging from orange to bordeau through scarlet red. The different models are distinguished above all by the neck and the cut of the sleeve, some are inspired by Japanese cuts.
For 15 years, Tahani Alotaibi was the first Gulf designer for Gulf gowns (Abayas). All Gulf women wear in different circumstances “Abayas”. She participated at many fashion shows & fashion weeks in several countries and capitals as London, Paris, Morocco, Tunisia, Arab Gulf countries and Saudi Arabia. She is the only designer for the heavy black gowns (Abayas). She is the first designer who participated at International fashion weeks especially in London.
Tahani Alotaibi made a great improvement on “Abayas” gowns by using luxury fabrics, distinguished with cuts & shapes adding embroidery, Swarovski stones and threads. She mixed them on abayas and make it a Chic, stylish and trendy gowns not only an ordinary and simple one as it was in the past. Special Abayas are created for daily life, receptions, holidays, weddings and luxury lifestyles. On the other hand, she introduced the winter fabrics adding velvet, furs and gouache.
The Kuwaiti designer was selected to represent Kuwait in designing the new abayas, and the event was attended by high-society ladies and dignitaries in Paris. The collection of exquisite haute couture abayas was shown amid appreciation and applause of the audience and was a real attraction. Many elegant Parisian women now choose to wear abayas for weddings and evening parties. Models presented the haute couture abayas in the splendid and attractive 2016 Spring and Summer show in the French capital. The aim was to make the haute couture Arab abaya an internationally respected attire to be worn easily by women all over the world. The Abayas presented smart, black embroidered chiffon abayas that attracted the audience’s attention. In this way, Otaibi, with her distinguished creativity, succeeded in creating newly designed abayas and attracting. Thousands of viewers (especially female ones) in various countries and making them more interested in wearing the abaya as a distinguished international dress on special occasions and private parties, because of its grace and elegance.
Tahani’s ambition is to reach universality and she certainly reached it by introducing the fashions Gulf Gowns (Abayas) without neglection the Gulf style.
