#WEARWHATSFAIR – Tailor-Made Artisan ASEAN Designer Fashion
Shanghai: On Saturday 19 October, 2019, the Council of ASEAN Fashion Designers (CAFD), the first and only ASEAN recognized fashion trade council brought to China for the first time, a capsule collection of fifteen (15) 1ASEAN artisan fashion designers from the ten (10) ASEAN nations including Phillippines, Laos, Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and Indonesia. This Private Collection is a collaboration between five leading Chinese fashion icon social influencers Toni, Danso, Nikki, Ava and Anny Fan with fifteen (15) international award-winning ASEAN designers.
#WEARWHATSFAIR is a sustainable fashion campaign whereby celebrities and popular social media fashion influencers collaborate with emerging designers to create their Private Collections exclusively available on the AFAB mobile app. These five Chinese fashion icons who currently host this first #WEARWHATSFAIR collection has a total of 30 million fashion followers across their social media platforms.
The capsule collection premiered an exciting new collection infused with multi-ethnic cultures and colours of ASEAN with a launching event at a 2D “pop-art” store at Taikoo Hui, Shanghai from 18th -20th October 2019. The “pop-art” store displayed more than 70 designs by the ASEAN artisan fashion designers and a runway show was staged to showcase the multi-ethnic and multi-style of ASEAN fashion. The launching event was graced by China International Cultural Communication Center Film & Television Department Deputy Secretary-General Sara Liu, Philippine Consulate General Shanghai Forrina Sun, Royal Thai Consulate-General Shanghai Park Boonuch, Council of ASEAN Fashion Designers Datuk Kenn Yam and Hunan TV Golden Eagle Documentary Wang Ping Bo.
“ASEAN designers are very talented, but they lack the platforms to market themselves. CAFD is working with AFAB Asia and collaborating with Hunan Mango Entertainment to promote ASEAN’s unique creativity to the largest consumer market in the world – China. What we have today is truly one of a kind event, and customers to the pop-art store can meet ASEAN designers and have their designer clothes tailor-made to fit them individually,” said Datuk Kenn Yam, the Honorary Chairman of the Council of ASEAN Fashion Designers.
The 3-day event attracted thousands of fashionable patrons to the pop-art store. They were able to meet with these international award-winning ASEAN artisan designers who are showcasing their artistic creations like hand-drawn clothes and special customizations and pre-order their designer tailor-made to perfect fit apparel at this event that is organized by Hunan TV subsidiary, Hunan Golden Eagle Documentary Limited Company.
#WEARWHATSFAIR is a movement to promote sustainable designer fashion with long-lasting, high-quality fabrics and tailor-made artisan apparel to reduce textile waste while supporting emerging talents.
