“Color, Shape, Change”
Bruce Lin’s 2023 solo exhibition
Dutch entrepreneur Bruce Lin ‘s 2023 solo exhibition “Color, Shape, Change” opened on December 2 at Taipei Dimensions Gallery. Teacher Lin’s paintings are bright, vibrant and unique. He doesn’t care which school or doctrine the work belongs to, but interprets the true meaning of expressionism in shape and image. Bruce Lin only started painting at the age of 55. He is not bound think by academic school. He interweaves the memories of his personal life with his escapist dream world to create unique symbols and create strong personal characteristics that are both real and extremely mysterious. His paintings are full of “inner overview” and “self-worth”, unswervingly confronts “shape” and “color”. He is a diligent amateur painter.
Bruce Lin said, “Amsterdam”, this first work was in 2007. I just started painting churches, but I couldn’t draw anything, then stopped painting for 8 years because of busy on business, until he picked up this painting again one evening in the Netherlands in July 2015 that he suddenly used the dark blue, yellow and gray that Van Gogh liked to express his mood. The Amsterdam sky was full and overflowing with inspiration. The feeling of color made him fascinated, and he was so happy that he continued painting in that night until about 6 o’clock the next morning.
When Bruce Lin drove through farms and countryside in France, Belgium, and the Netherlands in search of inspiration, he directly experienced the beauty of nature and felt a supreme sense of joy. This joy creates visual and inner feelings, allowing the work to express a high concentration of passion. The high-brightness color attracts the audience’s retina, and the color is used to interpret the painting scene, making fans praise ” Bruce Lin is a color scene painter”!
